The Polar Express

We took the Polar Express this weekend on a trip all the way to the North Pole! Braxton was in heaven getting to ride the train and see Santa Claus all in the same day! We had a great time, and I know that Braxton will be talking about this train ride for a LONG time. It was so neat - the waiters served us hot cocoa and Santa Claus shaped chocolates right after we got on the train. Then we got to read the Polar Express book, see the "North Pole," chat with Santa and the train conductor and sing Christmas carols on the ride back to the station. It was too much fun! Nana and I even got a little weepy on the trip (the North Pole moved me and Nana started fogging up when Silent Night came on!). It was definitely a trip to remember!

Chugga Chugga Choo Choo!!!

This past weekend, Braxton got to experience his first REAL train ride! We went out to Nana & Pops' lakehouse and drove out to Rusk - home of the Texas Railroad. The weather was beautiful and when we arrived, we got to have lunch at the Rusk train station (good ole BBQ!) while being entertained by some hefty musical talent (I believe he sang something about "being countryfied" and loving his grits - good song - I am pretty sure it will be a raving success before long!). We got to take the steam train to the Maydelle (yes, we are in the country folks!) Turntable. Watching a big ole steam engine get turned around on a turntable was a really cool sight. But the coolest part of all was watching Braxton and Pops. I am not sure who enjoyed the ride more! Either way, we all had an awesome time and a super fun weekend! Thanks Nana & Pops for letting us take over your house! We had a ball!
