Last weekend, the boys and I, along with good ole Aunt Vic, packed up Aunt Vic's car and headed out to Louisiana. Boy what a trip! God answered MANY prayers as far as the car ride goes. The boys couldn't have been any better, especially considering the fact that they were both strapped down and practically immobile for 6 1/2 hours straight (God bless the portable DVD player!!). It was so good to get to see all of our family. Aunt Rose and Uncle Jimmie's house was our first stop. They had pizza and lots of family over, along with two big blow up pools for the kiddos. Braxton couldn't even focus on eating - he just wanted to play (not unusual behavior - is this really MY kid??!!). So, we stripped him down and put on his swim trunks and let him play. He ended up not eating dinner and stayed up playing until 11:30pm. He had a ball! While the kiddos played, Vic and I got to catch up with everyone and hear about all sorts of interesting stuff (Amber has turned into quite the photographer since we saw her last, a guy from Breaux Bridge is big time in Ultimate Fighting, and my cousin Tina got to see a whole flock of naked bike riders on her trip to Europe - she even had pictures!). After a long night of chatting, everyone headed to their respective homes and beds to get some shut eye. The next morning, we got up and got to chat a little while longer before heading out to our next stop. We chowed on boudin (thanks Alida!) and coke for breakfast (what more could a cajun girl ask for!!?). It was so tasty!! It's a good thing I can't get good boudin like that out here - it would be dangerous! After our "Body for God" breakfast we packed up and headed out to Dad and Denise's house (a.k.a Paw Paw & Granny's). When we got to Dad's house, he was working on a BBQ feast for us. It smelled pretty darn yummy, and Dad looked like he had been soaked with a soaker hose (humidity - not fun!). All of his sweat was well worth it, though. The BBQ was excellent! We had a great time just getting to chat with them over dinner and show off our sweet boys and their talents. Braxton showed Paw Paw some of his killer dance moves, which earned him the nickname "Zydeco" from Paw Paw. It was quite impressive! The next morning was Dad's birthday, so we actually got to see him on his birthday, which was neat. We brought him a breakfast fit for a king (McDonald's Big Breakfast) and got to enjoy some more time with him and Denise before heading out for our long trip home. Even though it was short and sweet, we had a great time, and our trip back "home" was a great one!
P.S. I would like to send a special thanks out to Aunt Vic for playing the role of my husband the entire weekend. I couldn't have survived without all of your kid wranglin' and bottom wiping! You're welcome for the birth control (free of charge, too!!)! Seriously...I love you and appreciate all of your help a TON!
